Website & Owned Assets
Your website is the strongest owned evidence source for AI answers because it contains facts the business can control, update, and make easy to cite.
AI systems do not only look for polished marketing language. They need clear facts: who the business is, what it offers, where it operates, who it serves, how customers can buy or book, and what proof supports the claims.
Google's own guidance for generative AI search still points back to search fundamentals: useful content, crawlable pages, textual information, and accessible supporting links. For a local business, that means the website must make important details easy to find.
Directories, social profiles, review platforms, and listicles can help AI discover a business, but they are borrowed surfaces. The business cannot fully control how those pages describe it.
Owned pages give the business a stronger citation target. If AI can cite the official delivery page, contact page, menu page, or service page, the answer is easier for the business owner to improve over time.
Start with the pages that match buyer decisions. A restaurant needs menu, outlet, booking, delivery, and family/group suitability evidence. A pet shop may need product categories, delivery rules, grooming services, and contact details. A clinic may need services, practitioners, pricing guidance, insurance or policy details, and appointment paths.
Do not rewrite the whole website first. Fix the page that maps to the highest-value missed prompt.
